MENYOTTI
NICKNAME: Menace
AGE: 2
GENDER: Colt
BREED: Thoroughbred
COLOR/COAT: Chestnut
SIRED BY: New Approach
OUT OF: Simply Perfect by Danehill
RACING: Yes
HISTORY: Born and bred in the British countryside, Menyotti was raised in an idyllic environment and given only the highest quality of care. His dam, Simply Perfect, was a stakes winner in the Fillies' Mile and the Falmouth Stakes - both grade ones at the Newmarket track. He is sired by New Approach, who in his day was the European 2yo of the year and won a number of grade ones. He proved to be as strong a racing prospect as his owners could have hoped and was prepared for a yearling auction at Tattersalls. Groomed and well presented, he was purchased by a bloodstock agent for an American racing stable and brought over to the states for training.
PERSONALITY: Menace is a fearless colt - nothing phases him and when he gets something in his head he has to do it. He becomes determined, stubborn and basically difficult to handle until he gets his own way. Despite this, he is generally a good-natured colt and has never been known to strike out against a person. Once you get his mind on the task at hand, which can sometimes take a while, this focus and determination mean he is a quick learner. Due to high energy levels, it is important that he is hotwalked every morning or he will become irritable and difficult to work with.
PLAY-BY: Curlin
RP-SAMPLE:
It was not a warm day and it showed - breath turned to fog in the cold air and the various stable hands were moving more quickly simply to try and keep warm. As with every morning, Menace was in need of hotwalking in order to ensure that he would not become too difficult over the course of the day. He snorted as the lead rope was snapped onto the halter, tossing his head in indignant manner. This was routine - a set pattern - and the colt knew well what was expected of him.
As they walked past some of the barns the colt would stop, audits pinning against his skull, but for the most part he ignored the rest of the yard. There was nothing new, nothing interesting and so nothing worthy of his attention. Put into the hotwalker, he strode forwards. A confident, handsome specimen of a young thoroughbred and soon - little to his knowledge - he would be out on the track making his debut.
